Magic Leap published its Creators guidelines and had a section marked FOV – which contained just the text “Coming soon on launch day!”
If you looked at the source however it included the actual text of the document (since removed) in a commented-out block of markdown. Ahh Internet 🙂
It did contain some hand-wavy BS about how the further away stuff is in screen space (from the HMD) the “larger” the item could be – before delivering the bad news.
Magic Leap One has a horizontal FOV of 40 degrees, a vertical FOV of 30 degrees, and a diagonal FOV of 50 degrees.
So a crappy 4:3 aspect ratio just slightly larger than 2016’s Hololens FOV and MUCH smaller than pretty much any other VR HMD out there (Vive, Rift, Playstation, etc.) Even Daqri Smart Glasses have a bigger FOV – and these are professional level industrial AR glasses, which includes thermal imaging (which is surprisingly useful).
